  are adrift with careful fury -
  whitecaps on a glass surface -

  are cleared for takeoff and
  
  disappear into the tranquil depths
  evacuating the coming turmoil
  
  meanwhile a kite like a fish
  like a butterfly like a bird
  thrashes to escape its captor
  some shallow seaweed or
  some harrowed tree.
